Yesterday I visited the lovely gardens at Tatton Park in Cheshire. A break in the wet, dreary Christmas weather meant a chance to escape the indoors and stretch our legs around the grounds of this lovely estate near Manchester.
With deer roaming around the 1,000 acre park and a lovely festive atmosphere it was a great opportunity to get some fresh air and take in some lovely scenery. Unfortunately the 18th Century mansion is closed at this time of year – next year I must try to see the house decorated in the Dickensian style before Christmas. It was lovely exploring the vast estate with its walled gardens, Japanese Gardens, Italian Gardens and Glass houses full of pineapples.
We stopped off for a hot chocolate and slice of cake before heading home to a nice open fire.
Tatton Parks hosts the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park every year in July which is well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
